The old planters in Front Street in Acomb have received a vibrant makeover thanks to the dedication and hard work of the Greater Acomb Community Forum. Over the weekend, the Forum, with the enthusiastic support of local volunteers, breathed new life into the tired planters located near Boyes, clearing out litter, refilling them with stones, compost, and soil, and planting new plants.

The ambitious planting event saw local residents rolling up their sleeves and putting on their gardening gloves alongside members of the Forum and the Friends of Fishponds Wood, demonstrating the power of collaboration in improving local spaces. This community effort highlights the shared desire to enhance the beauty and appeal of Acomb for all.

The success of planting the old planters was further bolstered by the generous support of local businesses. SNIP Barber Shop and Boyes stepped up to lend a helping hand, proving their commitment to the community they serve. Their involvement underscores the importance of local businesses working hand in hand with the community to create a thriving and attractive environment in the area.

The revitalised planters now stand as a testament to the power of community action. Not only do they enhance the visual appeal of Front Street, making it a more pleasant place to shop and visit, but they also serve as a symbol of the strong community spirit that thrives in Acomb.

Community efforts like this really help improve local spaces and bring people together. They not only improve our local spaces but also bring people together, fostering a sense of belonging. We're incredibly grateful for the support of Friends of Fishponds Wood and local businesses like SNIP and Boyes. Their help made this project a real success.

The dedication and hard work on the planters on Front Street is a shining example of what can be achieved when residents, community groups, and local businesses work together towards a common goal. It's a reminder that even small actions can make a big difference in improving the lives of everyone in the community and fostering a stronger, more vibrant Acomb for years to come. The Greater Acomb Community Forum is now hoping this initiative will inspire further community projects to build a brighter future for the area.
